Maria Krasnopolsky
Maria Krasnopolsky was born in the former USSR and raised in the Middle East. Her work explores themes of beauty, loss, and environmental awareness. Working primarily in oil, she is best known for her Eulogy of Flora series, which memorializes extinct and endangered plant species, bringing attention to overlooked ecological crises through a contemporary memento mori lens.
Krasnopolsky has exhibited in galleries and international art events, including sustainability-focused exhibitions and collaborations such as the Waste Reduction Art Project (WRAP) and presentations during Miami Art Week. Her work bridges classical technique with contemporary subject matter, drawing on traditions of chiaroscuro and still life while addressing urgent environmental themes. She holds an MFA from the Academy of Art University and lives and works in New York.
